SUMMARY:Pine Barrens For Spring: Butterflies and More
DESCRIPTION:\nDate: Saturday, May 2, 2026\n\n\n\nLeader: Rick CechTransportation: Carpool Trip: While carpool rides for everyone usually work out, there is no guarantee of enough volunteer drivers to accommodate all participants. The Registrar will work to organize rides and to notify participants when a rental car may be necessary. Registrar will also inform participants of the carpool fee, which is based on the trip location; the cost of any rental cars should be split evenly by those participants.Meeting Point: After your registration is confirmed, the Registrar will share directions, the exact meeting place, and time with attendees.Schedule: Full-day trip.Relative Difficulty: The terrain is flat and easy to walk.Trip Description: The ephemeral magic of early spring is nowhere more marked than in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, where rare and local plant and butterfly species are on display for a short time each year, including up to seven species of elfins and green hairstreaks. In addition to butterflies, the group will be on the lookout for birds, reptiles, and any other fauna of interest.\n\n\n\nPlease read T ( https://www.linnaeannewyork.org/wp-content/uploads/PDF/LSNY-COVID-19-Guidelines-2021-06-20.pdf )he Linnaean Society of New York COVID-19 Field Trip Guidelines ( https://www.linnaeannewyork.org/covid-19-field-trip-guidelines/ ) before registering.\n\n\n\nRegistration: Registration opens at 9 am on Monday, April 20.
