SUMMARY:Central Park Winter Bird Walk & Coffee Hour
DESCRIPTION:\nDate: Saturday, March 6, 2027\n\n\n\nLeader(s): Erika Piik and David SpawnTransportation: Public Transportation: Participants can use public transportation to arrive at the meeting location.Meeting Point: After your registration is confirmed, the Registrar will share directions, the exact meeting place, and time with attendees.Schedule: Half-day, ending in early afternoon for coffee and conversation.Relative Difficulty: We will walk 3-4 miles on mostly flat terrain.Trip Description: Central Park is our bailiwick, and early March is the beginning of migration for land and water birds while allowing for the possibility of remaining cold-weather birds. Likely species include Pine Warblers, Palm Warblers, Song Sparrows, Swamp Sparrows, and Fox Sparrows. Last year in March, the reservoir was particularly productive, with both Common Loons and Red-throated Loons, all three species of mergansers, and a variety of gulls. Despite the cold weather, it is an exciting time of year to observe the seasonal transition, look for different bird behaviors, and chat about our findings over coffee or hot chocolate as we warm up after the walk at a yet-to-be-determined location.\n\n\n\nRegistration: Registration opens at 9 am on Monday, February 22. After that time, click here to register ( https://www.linnaeannewyork.org/registration-nocarpool/?debug=n&regstart=2%2F22%2F27+9%3A00+am&tripdate=3%2F6%2F27&tripname=Central+Park+Winter+Bird+Walk+and+Coffee+Hour&tripleader=Erika+Piik+and+David+Spawn&regname=TBD&regemail=tbd&tripwd=Saturday&confirmemail=tbd&regend=3%2F3%2F27+6%3A00+pm ). Registration closes at 6 pm on Wednesday, March 3. Members (and those who have applied for membership) will be prioritized over non-members.\n\n\n\nPlease read the About Our Trips ( https://www.linnaeannewyork.org/about-our-trips/ ) page, if you’re going on a field trip for the first time. It details our field trip policies, recommends what to bring on a trip, and offers other useful information, pro tips, and tricks.\n\n\n\nIf after visiting the About Our Trips ( https://www.linnaeannewyork.org/about-our-trips/ ) page, you still have questions, feel free to contact the Registrar via email.\n\n\n\n\n
