Central Park Fall Migration Walk with Alan Drogin, Kevin Sisco, Elijah Shiffer, 9/15/2026

Registrar: Michelle Zorzi
Participants: 57
Weather: 57-73° F and sunny, light breeze
Bird Species: 69

It was a beautiful September morning, and 57 birders gathered at 7:30 a.m. to see what migration would bring. The walk got off to a great start in Strawberry Fields, where we found 30 species of birds.

Highlights included a male Black-throated Green Warbler that gave us great views, and a rare Philadelphia Vireo. We were also delighted to find a Pine Warbler in Shakespeare Garden, which was a first-of-season sighting for some walk participants.

Warbler activity in the Ramble was pretty good as well, but the highlight for many birders was seeing the beautiful Barred Owl that had continued in the Ramble for two days.

A rare continuing female American Wigeon at the Pool rounded out the day for a few energetic birders who continued to the north end of the park, finally ending the walk at 5 pm.
