Mill Creek Marsh, Secaucus, New Jersey

Participants will be responsible for their own transportation. However, the registrar will help connect those in need of a ride with other participants who are able to offer one. (The exact meeting place and time will be shared with attendees after their registration is confirmed.)
Schedule: Half-day trip.
Relative difficulty: A one-mile level trail.

There is no “off season” in New Jersey’s Meadowlands, but October is usually the highlight of the year, as arriving winter residents overlap with lingering shorebirds and passerines. Meet at 8 am at the trailhead entrance next to Bob’s Discount Furniture, 3 Mill Creek Drive, Secaucus, New Jersey. Driving directions are on Google; the New Jersey Transit bus 320 takes 23-30 minutes from the Port Authority to the Walmart parking lot, a three-minute walk from the marsh trailhead. The wide, level trail is about a mile long; if we have time, we can also visit nearby Mill Creek Point. Bring a snack and water; scopes are useful here but not necessary, as the impoundments are fairly small.
