Birdwatching for Beginners Workshop

Date: Friday and Saturday, November 17 and November 18, 2023

Public transportation: Central Park (The exact meeting place and time will be shared with attendees after their registration is confirmed.)
Schedule: A Zoom seminar on Friday, November 17 at 7:00 pm which will last 45-60 minutes. Followed by a bird walk on Saturday, November 18 which will begin at 1:30 pm and last about two hours.
Relative difficulty: Expect to walk about two miles on (mostly) paved paths, with some moderate inclines.

On Friday, November 17, 2023 at 7:00 pm we will present a live Zoom seminar which will focus on birdwatching basics for beginners. If you have binoculars, please bring them to the seminar along with your birding guide books and questions. The Zoom session will last approximately 45-60 minutes, and we will discuss the basics of bird watching—how to focus your binoculars and how to look for birds. The very next day on November 18th we will go out into the field and take a bird walk in Central Park. During the bird walk we will explore the area around the Ramble looking for Eastern Bluebirds. Bluebirds migrate through New York City during the month of November and are very exciting to see. We will, of course, be looking for other birds as well. The bird walk will last approximately two hours.
