Croton Point Park

Date: Sunday, January 28, 2024 New Date: Saturday, February 17, 2024

Leader: Ethan Goodman
Public Transportation: (The exact meeting place and time will be shared with attendees after their registration is confirmed.)
Schedule: Public Transportation: The group will meet at Grand Central and take a train to Croton-Harmon Station on Metro-North Railroad’s Hudson River line. This trip will start later than our normal trips, as we will want to stay out until after dusk to increase our chances of seeing owls. The exact meeting place and time will be confirmed after registration, but it could start as late as noon.
Relative difficulty: Be prepared to walk about five miles on a slow upgrade and downgrade.

Croton Point Park is a 508-acre park situated on a peninsula on the east shore of the Hudson River. In past years, we have seen Great Horned Owls, Eastern Screech Owls, Horned Larks, Snow Buntings, Bald Eagles, Common Goldeneyes and Common Mergansers, as well as other species.

Please read The Linnaean Society of New York COVID-19 Field Trip Guidelines before registering.

Registration opens at 9 am on Monday, February 5. After that time, click here to register. Registration closes at 6 pm on Wednesday, February 14.

Please read the About Our Trips page, especially if you’re going on a field trip for the first time. It details our field trip policies, recommends what to bring on a trip, and offers other useful information.

If after visiting the About Our Trips page, you still have questions, feel free to contact the registrar via email (or phone, if listed) between the hours of 9 am and 9 pm.
