The Linnaean Society of New York

Central Park

Date: Tuesday, April 9, 2024

Leaders: Kevin Sisco, Alan Drogin, and other LSNY volunteer leaders
Public Transportation: (The exact meeting place will be shared with attendees after their registration is confirmed.)
Schedule: Spring walks are held every Tuesday morning from April 2 to May 28. They begin at 7:30 am. While the trip usually ends in late morning, it also accommodates participants who need to leave early.
Relative difficulty: Expect to walk about two miles on (mostly) paved paths, with some moderate inclines.

Central Park is one of the world’s premier birding spots, especially during spring and fall migrations. Typically, the walk covers the area west of the Lake (latecomers who have registered for the trip can look for the group in Strawberry Fields) before going into the Ramble. On a good day we’ll see warblers, sparrows, vireos, and other migrants and will try to identify plants and insects along the way. These are excellent walks for new or prospective Linnaean Society members and birders at all levels of experience.

Please read The Linnaean Society of New York COVID-19 Field Trip Guidelines before registering.

Registration opens at 9 am on Wednesday, April 3. After that time, click here to register. Registration closes at 6 pm on Sunday, April 7.

Please read the About Our Trips page, especially if you’re going on a field trip for the first time. It details our field trip policies, recommends what to bring on a trip, and offers other useful information.

If after visiting the About Our Trips page, you still have questions, feel free to contact the registrar via email (or phone, if listed) between the hours of 9 am and 9 pm.
