The Linnaean Society of New York

Birds & Brews

Date: Thursday, May 2, 2024
Leaders: Alan Drogin, Gillian Henry, Amanda Bielskas
Public transportation Our meeting location is just inside the park at the NE corner of 72nd Street and Central Park West. Participants will be responsible for their own transportation.
Schedule: This walk will start at 5:30PM
Relative difficulty: Expect to walk about two miles on (mostly) paved paths, with some moderate inclines.

This is a new walk series aimed at the after-work crowd, but anyone is welcome to join us! Central Park is one of the world’s premier birding spots, and we hope to take advantage of the longer daylight hours during peak migration to look for warblers, vireos, tanagers, and other spring migrants. The walk will start at 5:30 pm and we will search the Ramble or other Central Park hot spots for migrants before heading to a local bar around sunset for some casual conversations and libations.

Please read The Linnaean Society of New York COVID-19 Field Trip Guidelines before registering.

Registration opens: Registration opens at 9 am on Monday, April 22. After that time, click here to register. Registration closes at 6 pm on Monday, April 29.

Please read the About Our Trips page, if you’re going on a field trip for the first time. It details our field trip policies, recommends what to bring on a trip, and offers other useful information.

If after visiting the About Our Trips page, you still have questions, feel free to contact the registrar via email (or phone, if listed) between the hours of 9 am and 9 pm.
