The Linnaean Society of New York

“Parking” it on Staten Island – A May Monday Migration Excursion

Date: Monday, May 13th, 2024
Rain Date: Thursday, May 16th, 2024

Leader: Richard ZainEldeen
Transportation Participants will be responsible for their own transportation. However, the registrar will help connect those in need of a ride with other participants who are able to offer one. (The exact meeting place will be shared with attendees after their registration is confirmed.)
Schedule: The walk will start at 8:30 AM and end at approximately 2:30 PM
Relative difficulty: The terrain is mostly level at Clove Lakes Park with paved trails avoiding some of the steeper areas, while High Rock will have steeper terrain but nothing overly strenuous.

This trip will visit both Clove Lakes Park and High Rock Park on Staten Island, large parks that feature a variety of habitats. These two areas feature many of the regular NYC-area Spring migrants, including warblers, vireos, thrushes and sparrows, and with the right conditions, you never know what may show up!

Please read The Linnaean Society of New York COVID-19 Field Trip Guidelines before registering.

Registration opens: Monday, May 6th at 9 am. After that time, click here to register. Registration closes at 6 pm on Friday, May 10th.

Please read the About Our Trips page, if you’re going on a field trip for the first time. It details our field trip policies, recommends what to bring on a trip, and offers other useful information.

If after visiting the About Our Trips page, you still have questions, feel free to contact the registrar via email between the hours of 9 am and 9 pm.
