Staten Island, Purple Martins Plus

Participants will be responsible for their own transportation. However, the registrar will help connect those in need of a ride with other participants who are able to offer one. (The exact meeting place and time will be shared with attendees after their registration is confirmed.)
Schedule: The trip will go through the early afternoon.        
Relative difficulty: Prepare for sun exposure and walking over mostly easy terrain.

On this summer trip to Staten Island, we will visit several areas with nesting birds, including Bank Swallows at Great Kills Park, Purple Martins at Lemon Creek, and Boat-tailed Grackles, possible Clapper Rails, Little Blue Herons, and other marsh birds at Oakwood Beach Tidal Marsh. We will also visit  There will also be opportunities to observe a variety of butterflies and odonates. We will also go to Mount Loretto Unique Area for nesting Bald Eagles, plus Willow Flycatchers, Orchard Orioles and Indigo Buntings.

Registration opens at 9 am on Monday, June 24. After that time, click here to register. Registration closes at 6 pm on Wednesday, July 3.
